How you can contribute
Join our international volunteer community and work alongside people from different countries and backgrounds who all share the same goal: to make life better for people everywhere.
Our volunteers are aged 16 – 75+, and we have a project for almost everyone! We have a vast range of programmes geared towards university students, those taking a gap year or a career break, and everyone in-between. We also have specialised programmes for high school students, skilled professionals, and retirees.
Travel with a cause, and contribute to one or more of our worthwhile projects.
About Projects Abroad
Projects Abroad was founded in 1992 by Dr Peter Slowe. What first started as a programme for students who wanted to travel and work while on holiday during their full-time studies, soon turned into the world's leading overseas volunteer organisation.
With more and more people taking time out on study- and work-related breaks, and with many developing countries in need of self-funded volunteers, our organised volunteer travel programmes have gone from strength to strength.
We now send over 10 000 volunteers overseas every year on a variety of service projects and internships to help make a difference in developing countries and communities in need all around the world.
With trained staff in all of our destinations, we have an extensive network of local knowledge. This enables us to channel your skills to the areas where they are needed most. Our aim is to create a multi-national community with a passion to serve, to learn, to understand, to teach, to inspire and to be inspired. Our South African office is based in Claremont, Cape Town, and you are more than welcome to give us a call, send us a message or arrange a visit if you want to find out more about our many great volunteer opportunities.
