An exciting new opportunity has become available on the Projects Abroad Fiji Shark Conservation Project for a Dive Instructor / Field Scientist.
Responsibilities of the role
The Dive Instructor and Field Scientist is responsible for dive operations, related surveys and data collection; they conduct all aspects of field science and research; and they are in charge of the supervision of volunteers.
The objectives of the role are: To organise all operations and logistics associated with the dive operations and related surveys of the Conservation Project, including the training and supervision of volunteers, meeting the daily needs of the volunteers and our key stakeholders; and the planning and organisation of all project related activities.
The expected outcomes for this position are: Successful research and data collection in line with Conservation Management Plan; Correct following of all Overseas and Internal systems and procedures; and Worthwhileness of work with a local and global impact.
The person in this role will also be responsible for organising and implementing the PADI Divemaster program.
- Must be a PADI OWSI, preferably MSDT with AWARE Shark Conservation Diver Specialty Instructor rating.
You will be offered a 6 month contract subject to passing a 3 month probationary period.
