Senegal Care Volunteer Donates Bookshelves
Projects Abroad volunteer, Virginie Thouvenin, from France, has made an unusual and inventive donation to her care placement in Senegal. Noticing the need for a more organized way of storing the children’s books, she sought out a carpenter in order to install four bookshelves. Virginie paid for this herself as she wanted to donate something which would make a lasting impression at the placement. The staff at Virginie’s placement are very grateful.
If you are keen to make a donation to the children on your project, why not wait till you arrive on your placement and see what they need most? Something as simple as bookshelves makes a real change in the classroom creating a feeling of structure and tidiness, which is important within a working environment.
Projects Abroad’s social manager in Senegal, Erica Frerking, explains the benefits; ‘Now the books will be on display in the classroom for all the children to admire, and it is more organised and accessible for the teachers to use!’
