Join our Care & Community Middle School Special in Cambodia and work with children while learning about how you can contribute through service work. Explore cultural sites, learn about the culture and the Khmer language, and meet volunteers from around the world.
Our programme focuses on learning about the Cambodian culture and getting an introduction to volunteering. As part of your volunteer work, come up with creative ways to teach basic English and play fun, educational games with children. You will also help preserve the environment by participating in community clean-ups and educating people about the environment.
Participate in a culture workshop to learn about the history, customs and traditions in Cambodia and learn some Khmer phrases. You can use the Khmer you learn when visiting local markets, where you can buy handcrafted souvenirs and sample Mee Kiev, egg noodles and broth topped with pork dumplings. During a nighttime bus tour of Phnom Penh, visit beautiful Buddhist temples, the Royal Palace, and Choeung Ek.
During your two-week trip, you will live with a group of students your own age from around the world. You can learn all about the cultures and home countries of the other volunteers, and share some of the interesting things about your own country. You will have plenty of time to bond during movie nights, while enjoying dinners at local restaurants, or over a game of cards.
Over the weekend, take a trip to Siem Reap, where you will visit Angkor Wat Temple, shop at the night market, and enjoy a buffet dinner at the Amazon Angkor restaurant. Through all of your experiences, you will have a diverse group of new friends who will share in your excitement and anticipation as you learn about all that Cambodia has to offer.
